ON GOOD AUTHORITY is being PUBLISHED: Fall 2022!

I can’t believe I haven’t posted about this sooner! I imagine that I’ll be saying lots more here about On Good Authority in the months to come, so–for those who were not yet in the know–it is with great joy and a deep sense of delicious unreality that I share this announcement from Publishers Marketplace:

Briana McGuckin's debut ON GOOD AUTHORITY, pitched as Tess of the D'Urbervilles with the emotional, cathartic kink of SECRETARY and the gothic style of Sarah Waters, in which a young woman is placed in a Victorian workhouse before being sent to serve a wealthy family where, if justice is to be served and the dangerous secrets of the family exposed, she must draw the line between servitude and surrender--confronting her repressed desires along the way, to Jessica Tribble Wells at Thomas & Mercer, for publication in fall 2022, by Chris Bucci at Aevitas Creative Management (world).

And yes, this is (a revised form of) my Pitch Wars novel! More details soon to come! I cannot WAIT to share this story!

      Thank you so much! Yes, it’s been quite a journey–and even though I see the progression now, looking back, I don’t forget how uncertain it all feels. Querying, but also being on submission even after getting an agent. It really feels like nothing’s happening right up until the moment something happens. I hope folks who want to write don’t let the querying or submission processes crush them. It’s so rough, but the words are worth it.
